Here is some information about the property:
HISTORY
The evolution of the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills began 15 years ago, in the fall of 1991, when it was originally erected as the Hotel Nikko at Beverly Hills. Marrying Japanese style and state-of-the-art technology with traditional American comfort, the hotel was designed “to reflect traditional Japanese-style architecture with a contemporary, high-tech flair suitable to its urban setting."
After a successful eight-year run, the hotel underwent a $15-million dollar enhancement when the then French chain Le Méridien took over management duties, introducing European luxury with distinctive Los Angeles style to its décor in 1999.
In 2005, Starwood Hotels & Resorts purchased Le Mérdien and began the revivification of this ever-glamorous destination in one of the world’s most famous zip codes. Today, the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills is re-introducing the luxury hotel experience to a new generation of sophisticated travelers with smart, innovate design, including custom furniture by Cassina and Driade designed exclusively for SLS by Phillippe Starck.
CUISINE
Intrinsic to the SLS Hotel experience is the luxury of choice between two distinct experiences: one private and one public. In each, the culinary genius of José Andrés creates a hotel dining experience nothing short of spectacular. In Tres, the private guest sanctuary for in-house guests only, soul-satisfying fare is prepared throughout the day.
In The Bazaar, our second guest lobby, a wide array of intimate spaces awaits to dine, drink, snack, and indulge. The Bazaar includes a patisserie, tapas, full bar, and modern organic cuisine—all arranged against Philippe Starck’s dramatic design concept with Moss "liquid retail" weaved throughout the space. Chef Andrés imaginative preparations grace the menus of the SLS spa, the rooftop pool, and room service.
The Bazaar by Jose Andres
Everything about The Bazaar by José Andrés brings people together, from the intimate 40-seat chef’s tasting room, Saam, to the unique “shop without walls” Regalo, that weaves throughout the theatrical Philippe Starck-designed space. Find a seat near the show kitchen, and watch as our culinary team illustrates why The Bazaar was a 2009 James Beard Awards finalist for “Best New Restaurant” and “Outstanding Restaurant Design”.
A long menu of tapas, including Kumamoto oysters with lemon and black pepper, Jamon Serrano, and chilled Gazpacho invite guests to share tempting small plates with a traditional feel. Modern tapas are also on the menu, such as soy marinated salmon roe cone, tempura avocado, caviar, and crabmeat steamed buns. Not-to-be-missed desserts include traditional flan with vanilla and oranges, hot chocolate mousse, and clementine sorbet with roses and blueberries. Indoor and outdoor terrace dining options invite guests to luxuriate in the eternal L.A. sunshine while sampling menu highlights.
Ciel Spa at SLS
Guests of Ciel immediately unwind as soothing music and delightful scents mark their arrival in this second floor sanctuary. A gallery of specialty skincare items, including Aromapothecary, Ling skincare, Ageless Aesthetics, as well as Anthony's and John Allen for gentlemen clients, grace the entry area, where our spa concierge awaits each guest’s arrival and guides you to the locker room. Along the way, soft white décor with whimsical Starck-designed touches run the length of the 5,000-square-foot salon and spa, where a dynamic menu of traditional and innovative treatments are expertly administered. Refreshing and healthy savories created by acclaimed chef José Andrés create the ultimate retreat.
The six treatment rooms, managed by our on-site aesthetician, are equipped with music, lighting, and technology customized for each guest to enhance every massage, body treatment, facials, manicure, pedicure, and hair care service. Additional spa amenities include a hair and nail salon, a luxurious room for two with a side-by-side massage table and soaking tubs, a private women's serenity alcove, and locker rooms with steam and experience showers.
Our co-ed lounge is the perfect place to relax pre and post-treatment with refreshing fruit and herb infused water, freshly brewed teas, fresh fruit, or a glass of champagne with a handmade truffle. Spa guests are granted complimentary access to the lounge and guest-only pool and fitness center with any treatment purchase.
